  2. Karen,
You would NOT want that view or location when a hurricane decides to hit Florida. That is why I live in the middle of the state! Yes, pretty view in nice weather. Don't know how to describe the view during a hurricane. And, that is not even the Atlantic Ocean, but the intercoastal wayerway between the outer islands and the coastline.

  3. Very cute, but looks very mainstream show type Bedlington to me.
When do we get to see the Alternative Bedlingtons Bill?

  5. David,
When we did show you pictures of Bedlingtons doing their job, you had nothing to say about that. Pie's uncles, Bud & Harley were pictured here on this list a while back, along with a couple of other Bedlingtons in England that hunt.
Do bud and Harley not qualify for being good hunting dogs because they also have Championship titles from the American kennel club show ring? You might want to go back and look at WHAT they hunt, also. They don't hunt bunnies. Our O'possum are a lot closer to badger temperment than bunny!!!!! Bill has done a great job of present this list with a good cross section of all types of Bedlingtons doing their jobs, no matter what those jobs may be. I kind of like the idea of a Bedlington that is so well balanced emotionally, that it can live in a household with other small creatures, without inccident, and still go out and hunt possum or bunnies or whatever. That tells me I have a dog with a VERY stable temperment.
And, you don't have to come to the USA to see that kind of temperement. Bill has that within his household! I think Bill meant this list to be alternative in the fact that we could all discuss ALL aspects of owning Bedlington Terriers.

  6. Hi Mary Lou
Guess your right about not being nice in a hurricane,
If you had my view ie; the next door neighbors & very vocal children it would make sense about why i think that view is fab.
We live on the coast & when the weather is bad its horrendous.
Hope you & yours are keeping well... Billy has great site here & it's nice to chat.
    Regards Karen.

  7. Love the pics Mary lou-I'm terrified of big birds(ok I'll be honest little ones too!) I got drunk one new year and had a parrot on my shoulder but never again.

  8. Just thought i would mention my Bedlingtons are not working or show but i love them as Pets.
We should not be made to feel we should be in one bracket or the other.
Or that one is better than the other.
Each to their own !!! At the end of the day it's our choice what we have our dogs for...

  9. Hi Mary Lou, Getting onto weather again did't finish my post properly meant to say as we live on the coast bad weather is the norm but nothing like Hurricane type must be terrifying,
although my friend Jane reliably informs me that we actually had a Tornado at a local Beauty spot called Roseberry topping not far from us Monday last,It's not known in the north of England more predominant in the south apparently
There was a photo of it in our local paper.
    Such excitement Lol.
    Regards Karen.

  10. Hi Girls,
Tina, you gotta watch those big birds! GIGGLE I had the same thing happen to me as a kid, with a nasty little Monkey. Took a chunk of flesh and long hair out of the back of my scalp.
Karen, You want to be careful. Tornadoes are MUCH more dangerous than hurricanes. Very little warning with them. We have plenty of warning to get out of the way if we want to with an oncoming hurricane. Also, the weather patterns are changing all over the world.
As for your dogs not working, of course they work. They keep you entertained and happy. That just happens to be THEIR job. And, you are right that we should each enjoy our Bedlingtons however we want. Not all of us are single-minded or narrow minded! And, I am sooo glad I am not. Because, I have met so many wonderful people, from so many different cultures and hobby areas, all due to my love of the Bedlingtons.
Keep enjoying your Bedlys anyway you want!
